IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE BENEFICENT, THE MERCIFUL
Being the Abuja Chapter reports for the year 1429-1430 A.H (2008/2009)
Assalam Alaykum,
May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be with us all . Amin.
The Abuja chapter of Unifemga had in June 2008 appointed a new executive to run the affairs of the Association for a term of two years.
The new executive members were: Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Chairman, Rasidi Olalekan Musefiu, Secretary, Saheed Imran, Asst. Secretary, Abdulhakeem Abdhameed, Finacial Secretary, Isiaka Wakili, PRO, Mrs Rahmat Akibu Bello, Mutiullah Odelade, Missioner and Abdulmalik Abdulazeez, Ex-Officio.
It is expected that after the two years tenure ending in 2010, Unifemga Abuja in line with Vision and Mission of the Association, will have surpasses other Muslim alumni in the country.
Prayer Meetings: One of our major programmes is the monthly prayer meetings. In realizing this, the chapter kept to its time table of having its monthly prayer meetings being rotated among members while designing a fresh package for the elders and some top chief executives, who were also members, in order to carry everybody along.
Award-Lecture-Iftar: Secondly, the Chapter, Insha Allah, intends to retain its yearly three-in-one programme, which is IFTAR, LECTURE and AWARD to some deserving Muslim Alumni and non-alumni alike, who have distinguished themselves in their various professional callings.
It is a thing of joy that the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Sabur Bankole, bagged his first ever award from UNIFEMGA, Hon. Kamil Mudashiru Akinlabi (PDP-Oyo) and Alhaji Ishaq Ajibola, Managing Director of Daily Trust Newspapers received our "LEADERSHIP AWARD" in 2008.
This year’s award will Insha Allah hold in the first midweek of Ramadan with four distinguished Nigerians slated for the award.
Collaboration: In addition to that, UNIFEMGA Abuja in carrying out its Orphanage Programme, is collaborating with an established Muslim Organization based in Abuja (The Ummah Foundation TUF) with similar objective, by contributing to the successful implementation of the programme through sponsorship of some indigent children in schools.
The Chapter has also been relating well with other branches, and equally attends all the meetings at the instance of the National Secretariat
UNIFEMGA BRANDING: In the area of image laundering, UNIFEMGA Abuja has resolved to use its goodwill with the media practitioners and Professionals, to collaborate with them in the usage of its activities as well as giving adequate publicity to issues on national and global events as determined by the National Secretariat.
Membership: It is regrettable that despite the influx of Ife Muslim Graduates in Abuja looking for greener pasture, the Chapter has not been able to mobilize more brethren to the fold. This, the new executive has promised itself to effect the necessary changes and re strategize on how to attract more qualitative members to its fold.
OAU Mosque Project: The Abuja Chapter of UNIFEMGA equally believes in this all-important project. To this extent, the new executive is adopting a new system aimed at harnessing resources not only from members of the Association but others who believes in the cause. We will equally work in tandem with National Executive new focus and target of completing the project within two years.
To this end, the Chapter in December 31, 2008 remitted the sum of N1 million to the Mosque Project Fund Account.
With the renewed vigour from the National Secretariat through the repackaging of the Mosque project scheme, the Branch intends to improve on its performance in 2008 by penetrating some well-placed individuals in the society to raise something substantial for the Mosque project.
Welfarism: Apart from Spiritual well being of our members, we intend Insha Allah, to continue with our welfare scheme, even do more in the areas of job creation, facilitating employment, and necessary contacts for our members and do a necessary liaison between the Association and our members.
Equally, we had participated in the last one year in the Nikah, Aqiqah and house warming ceremonies of our brethren in Abuja.
Secretariat: In line with our Vision and Mission to be the foremost Muslim Alumni in the world, the new executive intends to resuscitate the moribund secretariat and hire a competent Administrative Secretary to organize and coordinate the activities of the chapter.
Family Picnic: This is a new programme that the chapter is nursing the idea to host with non-Unifemga participating. It’s a programme that could shore up the image of the Association in the Capital City, with important dignitaries participating and sponsoring.
Other Programmes: The new executive intends to fashion out any other programmes aimed at achieving all the aforementioned objectives. It is our intention to work closely with other chapters and package our chapter to be a hub of UNIFEMGA in Nigeria since we are based in the nation’s capital city. Insha Allah.
CHALLENGES: Despite the above highlighted achievements, the chapter is still witnessing some challenges in the areas of low turn out at monthly meetings, poor financial standing of some members, joblessness of our young members and low commitment of some of elderly brothers based in FCT.
More importantly, is the lack of secretariat to coordinate our activities, though we are making some contacts at National Mosque Annex to see if we can collaborate with some Islamic groups to get a place.
In spite of the constraints, we are more determined to uplift the Association to greater heights in line with our overall set objectives.
May UNIFEMGA grow from strength to strength (Amin).
Yours in Islam,
Abdur-Rahman Balogun (ARAB)
Chairman, Abuja Chapter.

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE BENEFICENT, THE MERCIFUL
BEING THE REPORT OF ACTIVITIES OF UNIFEMGA ABUJA CHAPTER. 1428-1429 A.H
(2007/2008)
Assalam Alaykum,
May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be with us all. Amin.
UNIFEMGA Abuja chapter being one of youngest chapters
has tried its best to live up to the expectations in carrying out the
vision and mission of the Association.
The chapter, which started with less than 20 members, has grown
to over 70 members in the Federal Capital city.
With gradual consolidation of membership, the chapter
started rotation of prayer meetings, which was one
of its major programmes, among members' houses and sometimes at
National Mosque, Abuja.
Aside that, the chapter appointed an executive, whose tenure expires
this year, to run the affairs of the Association as against the interim
nature that was hitherto in operation. The Association is awaiting the
final report of the Shurah committee any moment from now.
With the new executive committee in place soon, it is expected that new
vigour and dynamism would be introduced into the activities of the
Chapter in Abuja.
Like every other chapters, one of our major concern
was to raise appreciable money for the completion of
OAU central mosque, in which letters and
solicitation tickets were distributed to both
members and non-members alike for their contributions.
The chapter has already sensitised its members to the
new initiatives by the BOT and national body of the Association towards
the completion of the mosque.
It must however, be pointed out here that the
response to the mosque initiative was still very
low, thus the need for us to change our tactics,
hoping that before the
next National Re-union, Abuja chapter will be in a
better position to contribute more to the
completion of the Mosque.
Notwithstanding, individual members were
levied, while attempts were being made to
link up with some identified members in
top government hierarchy to contribute to
the funds.
Abuja chapter now has a new bank account
With First Bank Plc, National Assembly, Branch
with account number 4842030000125
for easy collection of donations from
members of the public and safe keep of
our contributions.
Also, the chapter now has a
functioning e-mail address,
thus: unifemgaabj@yahoo.com
Regrettably, since our Administrative
Secretary resigned in January 2007, it has given us some setback, as it
has slow down the activities of the branch.
It was a thing of joy, however, that UNIFEMGA Abuja
chapter had its maiden public programme in
17th Shaaban 1427 A.H (Sept. 9, 2006) where
we had a successful Symposium on Care For The
Orphans: The Role of Muslims .
The programme featured personalities like the former chief Justice of
Nigeria, Mohammed Lawal Uwais as well as other top government
functionaries who pledged to support the cause of UNIFEMGA.
And in September 2007, we had another three-in-one
Leadership Lecture, Award and Iftar for our members
in National Assembly.
The programme witnessed Leadership award on Four National Assembly
Members: Hons. Saheed Lanre Agoro (PDP-Oyo), Muraina Ajibola (PDP-Oyo),
Kafayat Abike Dabiri (AC-Lagos) and Sen. Awaisu Dahiru Kuta
(PDP-Niger).
The programme was indeed one of our success stories which Insha Allah;
we intend to consolidate on it this Ramadan.
In the area of awareness, the information
machinery of the chapter is very effective
as it has always address issues of national
and international concern on behalf of
the Ummah.
Similarly, we also have a working relationships with some Muslim
organisations of like minds like Abuja Muslim Forum (AMF), Muslim
Consultative Forum (MCF), Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), NASFAT and
MICA in Abuja and has been working harmoniously in line with the
overall objectives of the association.
Recently, in April 2008, UNIFEMGA Abuja Chapter entered into
collaborative efforts with The Ummah Foundation (TUF), which champions the
welfare of Orphans and widows in Abuja and its environs.
It must however be stress here that to date, UNIFEMGA Abuja chapter
remains the only functional and recognised Muslim alumni Association in
the entire FCT and its environs. Alhamdulilah Rabil Alamin.
The chapter has also been relating well
with other branches, and equally attend
all the meetings at the instance of the
National Secretariat.
Recently, we initiated "A Catch-Them-Young" scheme where our
outgoing corps members would facilitate linkages to newly called-up members
who are Muslim graduates from Ife. We hope to consolidate on this, as
the called-up exercise is now thrice in a year.
Also, we have been linking some of young graduates with our senior
members in top government offices, for necessary recruitment into the
service. Alhamdulilah, we are making headway in this respect.
In the areas of welfare, we have participated in
the last two years in the Nikah, naming and house
warming ceremonies of some of our brothers and
sisters.
Besides, some of our committed brothers from Ibadan chapter, Barrister
Lanre Agoro and Barrister Muraina Ajibola were recently elected as
member of House of Representatives. This is a blessing to us in Abuja. We
had since written to congratulate them as well as Hon. Kafayat Abike
Dabiri and Sen. Awaisu Dahiru Kuta from Niger.
CONSTRAINTS: Despite the above, the chapter is still witnessing some
constraints in the areas of low attendance at meetings, poor financial
standing and joblessness of some of its young members and non-commitment
of some elderly brothers based in FCT to the association.
This was even compounded by the massive demolition of houses in FCT
which affected some of our members who had been dislocated to remotest
part of the city, thus limiting their activities in town.
We are equally still looking for a befitting but moderate secretariat
to coordinate our activities in Abuja. We hope to apply for a place at
National Mosque, once the rehabilitation exercises is completed.
In spite of the constraints, we are more determined to uplift the
Association to greater heights in line with the overall set objectives.
May Almighty Allah (SWT) continue to
guide and protect UNIFEMGA and allow
it to grow from strength to strength (Amin).
Maa Salam,
Abdur-Rahman Balogun
Outgoing Chairman,
Abuja chapter.

CHAPTER. 1427-1428 A.H (2006/2007)
Assalam Alaykum,
May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be with us all.
Amin.
UNIFEMGA Abuja chapter came into existence
Five years ago with an inaugural meeting attended by
Over 20 members at National Mosque, Annex, Abuja.
Since then, the chapter has grown from strength
to strength in consolidating its activities as well
as creating awareness and having positive impacts in
the capital city of Abuja.
With gradual consolidation of membership, the chapter
started rotation of prayer meetings, which was one
of its major programmes, among members' houses.
Aside that, the chapter appointed an executive, whose
tenure expires this year, to run the affairs of the
association as against the interim nature that
hitherto was in operation.
With the new executive committee in place,
the rotatory prayer meetings was consolidated and a
lot of programmes were lined up for execution.
One of our major concern was to raise an
appreciable money for the completion of
OAU central mosque, in which letters and
solicitation tickets were distributed to both members
and non-members alike for their contributions.
It must however, be pointed out here that the
response to this call was very low, thus the
need for the executive to recently change
its tactics, which Insha Allah, before the
next convention, Abuja chapter will be in a
better position to contribute more to the
completion of the mosque.
Notwithstanding, individual members were
levied, while attempts were being made to
link up with some identified members in
top government hierarchy to contribute to
the funds.
Abuja chapter now has a new bank account
With First Bank Plc, National Assembly, Branch
with account number 4842030000125
for easy collection of donations from
members of the public.
In line with the vision and mission of UNIFEMGA
national, which Abuja chapter is proud to
associate with, we had also secured a
secretariat at Danyadado House, Opposite Le-Meridien
Hotel,
Suite 103, Plot 855 Tafawa Balewa Way, Area 11, Abuja.
P.O.Box 6675, Wuse, Abuja.
Not only that, the chapter now has a
functioning e-mail address,
thus: unifemgaabj@yahoo.com
Regrettably, our Administrative Secretary resigned in
January 2007. This has given us some setback, as it
has slow down the activities of the branch.

Later in the year, another public lecture has been
slated with a five-member committee set up to
fine-tune the arrangements.
In the areas of awareness, the information

Abuja chapter of UNIFEMGA has partook
in organising many public lectures,
Symposia, Rallies, Workshops with
other similar associations in Abuja.
It must be stress here that we have use our contacts
to fix up some of our fresh graduates, who did their
youth service in Abuja, to secure a permanent job in
the capital city.
In the areas of welfare, we have participated in
the last one-year in the Nikah ceremonies of some
of our brothers and sisters as well as the Aqiqah
of others.
It is our great pleasure to inform you that UNIFEMGA
Abuja chapter has been blessed with the coming on
Board
of Alhaji Ahmed Tunde Popoola in Abuja as the Chief
Executive Officer of Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA).His
presence in our midst has spurred some other unwilling
members to be interested in the activities of the
chapter.
Besides, one of our committed brothers from Ibadan
chapter, Barrister Lanre Agoro was recently elected as
member of House of Representatives. This is a blessing
to us in Abuja. We had since written to congratulate
